Whether you’re swapping out a tired front door on a 1970s home or ordering every door for a new build, the door has to fit the opening, seal against Utah winters, and stand up to strong high-altitude sun. Our door shop in Centerville builds and supplies exterior doors for both, and you can see the options in person in our showroom.

Replacing a door in an existing home
Replacement is where most door projects go sideways, because older homes rarely match today’s standard sizes. Here’s how we make a new door fit an old opening:
- Custom jamb sizes: we build pre-hung doors to your actual wall depth, so the frame sits flush without extra trim work
- Slab or pre-hung: keep your existing frame and replace just the door slab, or swap the whole unit when the frame is worn or out of square
- Match bore and route: we machine a new slab to line up with your existing hinges and hardware, so it hangs right the first time
- Installation available: our door installation team can take out the old door and set the new one
Bring your measurements, or a photo of the door and frame, and our team will help you figure out which route fits your home.

Choosing the material: fiberglass, steel or wood
| Fiberglass | Steel | Wood | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Holds up to sun and dry air | Excellent; won’t warp or crack | Good; dark colors run hot | Fair; best under a covered entry |
| Maintenance | Low | Low; touch up scratches | High; refinish regularly |
| Dent resistance | High | Can dent | Can scratch or gouge |
| Price | Mid to high | Most affordable | High |
| Best for | Most front entries | Side and garage entries, budget builds | Covered entries, custom homes |
For most Utah homes, fiberglass is the safe pick: it can be stained to look like wood without warping through our temperature swings. We carry exterior doors from brands including Therma-Tru, Masonite, Plastpro, Simpson Door Company and Steves & Sons, with decorative glass from ODL and hardware from Emtek, Kwikset and Sure-Loc. Frequently asked questions
Can you make a new door fit an older home’s opening?
Yes. Our door shop builds pre-hung units with custom jamb sizes, and we can match bore and route a slab to your existing hinges and hardware.
Should I replace just the slab or the whole pre-hung unit?
If the frame is solid and square, a slab can work. If the frame is damaged, rotted or out of square, a full pre-hung unit is usually the better fix. Our door team can help you decide.
Do you supply doors for new construction?
Yes. We supply exterior and interior doors, plus the trim and millwork to go with them, and deliver them to the jobsite.
Do you install exterior doors?
Yes. Ask about our door installation services when you call.
